Deepfakes of celebrities being used to call for Jair Bolsonaro’s release
Regina Duarte, Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Sérgio Reis and other artists and athletes are seen holding signs in support of the former president
A video showing pictures of various celebrities advocating for the release of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) was generated by artificial intelligence. The video shows images of actors Humberto Martins, Maurício Mattar, Regina Duarte and Dedé Santana, of soccer players Neymar Jr. and Ronaldinho Gaúcho, and of singers Zezé Di Camargo, Sérgio Reis, Amado Batista and Leonardo. These celebrities are shown wearing t-shirts and/or holding signs that say: “We are all Bolsonaro”, “Amnesty Now”, “I Support Bolsonaro” and “Free Bolsonaro”.
The plastic appearance of the images show that these are synthetic scenes. The photos were also not from official sources. The content was debunked by Estadão Verifica and Fato ou Fake, which also identified evidence of manipulation.
