The Liberal Party used artificial intelligence to simulate a speech by Jair Bolsonaro (PL) during the national convention that made Flávio Bolsonaro’s presidential candidacy official. The party screened a synthetic video in which the former president expresses support for his son. “I ask you to welcome with open arms the person I chose to succeed me: flesh of my flesh, my son Flávio,” he says.
The recording indicates that it was artificially generated. However, its use could be considered an electoral violation, since deepfakes – a technique that alters people’s images and voices using artificial intelligence – have been banned by the Brazilian Electoral Court.
